Christmas FAQs
Most common questions are answered below. If you still need help, please contact us.
General
We run two collection weekends each year. Check your school’s date on the Collection Dates page. Collection is generally 7:30 am–10:30 am; your school will confirm any variations by email in the week prior.
Radiata pine (Pinus radiata).
It’s Australia’s most common Christmas tree variety—locally grown, drought-tolerant, fast-growing, and holds its shape and scent well. Farms replant seedlings to keep plantations renewable.
No. Most are around six feet (≈1.8 m), with a typical range of five to seven feet (≈1.5–2.1 m).
Selection is first-come, first-served. We can’t reserve specific trees. Arrive early on collection day for the widest choice.
Environment & Recycling
Most councils collect real trees in January on green-waste days. Place your tree beside your green bin (check your council’s guidelines for exact dates and preparation). Recycling turns trees into mulch and keeps them out of landfill.
Real trees are farmed crops: for each harvested tree, new seedlings are planted. While growing, trees absorb CO2, and after Christmas they’re recyclable (often mulched). Choosing a real tree supports local growers and a renewable cycle.
Care & Transport
Make a fresh 2 cm cut across the base, then place the tree in a water-holding stand and keep it topped up daily. Don’t let the water drop below the trunk base—if it does, recut the stump. Keep the tree away from direct sun and heat sources. If you’re not setting up immediately, store it cool, out of wind and sun, with the base in water. Properly cared for, a real tree lasts up to four weeks.
Puddings
